The European Documentation Centres network was established by the European Commission in universities and colleges where education on European integration is promoted. Its purpose is to grant access to the official documents of the European Union for those participating in university education and research.
The University of Debrecen started the European Studies Program in 1998, one of its objectives was to organize and harmonize the documentation activity. The European Documentation Centre was set up in 1999 supported by the Phare-program of the European Union with the collaboration of the University and National Library.
