The University and National Library of University of Debrecen is a central part of the University's communication and use of knowledge by providing materials, information and services that support the University's teaching, research and medicinal functions. The Library advocates the general goals, politics and activities specified by the University's mission statement.

As a national and public library with legal deposit it archives and provides access to all Hungarian publications.

The Library supports the University's comprehensive activities by:

1. maintaining and providing access to collections of traditional and electronic documents and information resources,
2. managing services for students, researchers and teachers to assist their professional development
