Newspapers and periodicals are, from the beginnings, an important part of the library's holdings. The most treasured items of the collection are Hungarian periodicals of the 18th and 19th centuries, of these the materials from the Trans-Tisza region and the newspapers of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848/49 are rich. A good cross-sectional view of the periodicals published in the first part of the 20th century can also be found in our library.
Due to the submitting of legal deposit copies, from 1952 the entire body of national periodical products reach the library. International periodicals serve primarily the educational and research activities of the university, especially the collection of the humanities and social sciences are considerable.
