The Poster Collection represents a unique colour and has a remarkable value among the special collections of the library. The collection comprises of more than 1 500 000 posters and brochures and it has been developed since 1952, but with posters of the 1920s and 1930s obtained subsequently the library can give a sample of the advertisements and graphic products of almost the whole 20th century to the researchers.
Numerous posters and brochures ranging from the works made by acclaimed artists between the two World Wars like Tibor Pólya, István Irsai, Andor Bánhidi, or György Konecsni to the products of present days confess about the century. These documents of short validity provide a picture of the historical, cultural, social, political, economical events, commerce, tourism, motion picture and theatre, and thousands of other subjects: such as the everyday life and holidays of Hungary.
Usage:
The collection is available only for researchers by appointment.
