The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) is a not-for-profit association of repository initiatives launched in October 2009. It aims to enhance greater visibility and application of research outputs through global networks of Open Access digital repositories. Therefore, the development and implementation of interoperable standards and consistent policies is important for international repository initiatives. |

HUNOR (HUNgarian Open Repositories) The HUNgarian Open Repositories (HUNOR) is a consortium of the libraries of Hungarian academic institutions and that of the Hungarian Academy of Science aiming to establish the national practice of Open Access repositories. Members of the HUNOR aim to improve the national and international acknowlidgement of Hungarian science by the dissemination of scientific outputs, i. e. by building a national infrastructural network of Open Access repositories, by establishing methodological centres, by the application of international standards and regulations, by adopting complementer channels of scientific communication, and by establishing international connections. |

The EuropeanaTravel is a project financed by the European Union, its main objective is to make the digital contents of university libraries and national libraries accessible through the Europeana.eu portal. The project started in May, 2009 and aimed to digitalize more than one million documents related to the fields of travelling and tourism: these include maps, manuscripts, photos, film negatives, books, etc. |

The Publishing and the Ecology of European Research (PEER) is a pioneer collaboration among publishers, repositories and researchers. The PEER supported by the EC eContentplus program investigates the effects of the systematic depositing of authors’ final manuscripts (so called Green Open Access research output) on reader access, author visibility, and journal viability, as well as on the broader ecology of European research The project is based on the collaboration of publishers, repositories and researchers and will last from 2008 to 2011. The Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe (OpenAIRE) is an Open Access project of European countries. Its main objective is to support the Open Access project launched by the European Commission in August, 2008. This three-year initiation was started by 38 institutes of 27 countries. Researchers participating in the project take on the task of depositing their research publications relating to a certain scientific field (Health, Energy, Information technology, Protection of the environment, Social economy and humanities, etc.) into institutional Open Access repositories. The OPenAIRE project provides the conditions for this and builds e-Infrastructure for the repository network. |
